Ingredients

The cake:

  • sugar: 2 cups

  • brewed coffee: 1 cup
  • cocoa powder: 3/4 cup
  • sugar: 2 cups
  • flour: 2 cups
  • milk: 1 cup
  • baking powder: 1 tbsp
  • baking soda: 2 tsp
  • salt: 1 tsp
  • vegetable oil: 1 cup
  • vanilla extract: 1 tsp
  • eggs: 2

The frosting:

  • milk chocolate: 9 ounces
  • unsalted butter: 1 cup
  • heavy cream: 1 cup
  • bittersweet chocolate: 3 ounces
  • caramel syrup: 2 tablespoons
  • salt: 1/4 tsp

Utensils

  • medium-size bowl
  • large bowl
  • 9 inch round pan
  • electric mixer

Cake Directions

  • Preheat oven to 350F
  • Grease a 9 inch cake pan and dust with cocoa powder.
  • Put the dry ingredients together in the large bowl.
  • Add the oil, milk and coffee
  • blend for 2 minutes
  • Add the vanilla extracts and the eggs
  • Bake for 25 minutes. Prickle the cake with a wooden pick, if it comes out clean the cake is ready.
  • Cool then frost

Frosting Directions

  • Put together chocolate and cream
  • Stir in a saucepan until melted
  • Put in caramel syrup until smooth.
  • Cool for 1 hour.
  • Beat butter in a large bowl with an electric mixer until fluffy.
  • Beat in the chocolate mixture.
